He vomited a few times, then seemed to stabilize. Physicians have a name for this window. They call it the walking ghost phase. The body has already received a fatal dose. The cellular damage is done and irreversible. But the cascade of organ failure hasn't begun yet — and from the outside, the patient appears to be recovering. They are not recovering.
