Quantum entanglement was supposed to be a subatomic thing — two particles linked across distance, but only when you isolate them from everything else at the molecular level. Scale up at all, and the coherence was assumed to collapse. That was the assumption. A team at TU Wien just published evidence that a centimeter-sized crystal — something you could set on a table — contains clear signs of quantum entanglement across at least nine particles acting together as a single unit. They're calling it Schrödinger's Anthill: disturb one particle and the entangled system responds as one, the same way a colony reacts when you disturb a single ant. Jake's immediate question: if entanglement can exist at visible scale, at what point does someone use that to navigate something across dimensions? The answer might be closer than anyone expected.
