New research published in the journal Classical and Quantum Gravity proposes something that reframes what wormholes actually are. Einstein and Rosen's original 1935 bridge was never meant to describe a tunnel you can travel through. What it actually describes is a mirror of time — a mathematical connection between two microscopic arrows of time flowing in opposite directions. Wormholes as cosmic shortcuts may not exist at all. But what the math is actually pointing at is something deeper.
